“Aarogee: Telemedicine Health Centre” opens in Haridwar

Haridwar, 4 Sep: Legrand India has kick-started its medical health centre for the people in an around Haridwar. As a part of this India CSR initiative, Legrand has collaborated with Nanavati Hospital, Mumbai, to set up this telemedicine centre, which will aid in remote diagnosis and treatment of patients by means of telecommunication. Specialist doctors from Nanavati hospital will diagnose and consult with the people. Patients below the poverty line will be able to avail consultation services for free.
Legrand India organised its first Aarogee – Telemedicine Health Centre in 2017 at Jalgaon. This has provided free medical services to over 10,000 plus patients till date from the BPL community. A synergy between the best in medical and telecommunication technology, this CSR project is designed to be sustainable and scalable considering it can be replicated in other locations. The facility will enable patients to connect with doctors real time through audio/video telecommunication technology. Patients can diagnose and submit their health data like BP, blood test, X-Ray, etc., online which will be remotely made available to the doctor sitting at Nanavati Hospital with the help of paramedical staff available at the centre. The doctor and patient can then be connected real-time through audio-video. This technology will also enable doctors to use digital stethoscope to listen to lungs, heart and subsequently prescribe relevant medicines.
On the occasion, Tony Berland, CEO and MD, Legrand India, said, “Business Ecosystem, People and Environment are the three CSR focal areas at Legrand Group, in line with this objective, this CSR drive earlier at Legrand Jalgaon and now Haridwar is a strategically driven project to support the health and wellbeing of the communities.”
Over these years, CSR activities like electricians’ training (Recognition Prior Learning) Electricians’ skill development (2500 Electricians trained every year), National Disaster Management Training, promoting quality education to the meritorious and deserving students to pursue professional courses and disaster relief support to the rebuilding and rehabilitation (Kerala & Odisha) have been undertaken as a part of the company’s community building efforts in the region.
